Published by Lee Smith (A0.1861918).I first heard this beautifully enigmatic hymn while watching the film Titanic back in the early 90s. In this epic scene where, amidst the absoute chaos of the sinking ship with all of the passangers running and shouting and fearful for their lives, the ship's string quartet plays music on deck in an attempt to calm the passangers down. When they realise they had better save themselves before it's too late, the fist violinist dismisses his colleagues and starts playing this hymn. They walk away but turn around to join him one last time, as we see different scenes throughout the ship where passangers have made their peace and will face their fate as they themselves have chosen. This is by far my favourite hymn, and it will be the hymn played while my casket is carried out of the church.
