Composed by Lowell Mason. Arranged by Jeremy Yowell. Christian,Contemporary,Romantic Period,Sacred,World. Score. 7 pages. Jeremy Yowell #15827. Published by Jeremy Yowell (A0.778127)."Nearer, My God, to Thee" has become best known for being the last song played on the Titanic. Some survivors later reported that the ship's string ensemble played the hymn as the vessel went down. A chilling ship's bell marks time at the beginning of this arrangement as a remembrance of that fateful night over a hundred years ago. In the piece's opening theme, imagine those solitary life boats slowly inching away from the sinking ship. This same theme returns, when the piece finishes with the Titanic slowly sinking out of sight beneath the cold, dark waters of the Atlantic.

Very beautiful and unusual setting of this beloved hymn, it has dark harmonies and contrasting passages of reflecting character, very useful and enjoyable to play and listen

Hauntingly Beautiful! Opening with the toll of a ship's bell, Yowell's arrangement takes you on a historical journey while at the same time bringing comfort to you in your present need. I love it!
