Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.1810854).Nunarput utoqqarsuanngoravit ("Our Ancient Land") is the regional anthem of Greenland, an autonomous state of the Kingdom of Denmark. The lyrics were written in 1912 by the Greenlandic painter and Lutheran pastor Henning Jakob Henrik Lund (1875-1948) who also composed many hymns in the Greenlandic language. The lyrics were originally set to the melody of the Swedish national anthem, Du gamla, du fria and it was officially adopted in 1916. However, in 1937 a new melody was composed for the anthem by the Greenlandic organist and piano teacher Jonathan Petersen (1881-1961). It is rhythmically almost identical to the national anthem of Sweden.
