My Kind of Music, Book 3 by Kevin Olson Piano Solo - Sheet Music

By Kevin Olson

My Kind of Music, Book 3 is a collection of nine unique solos for the intermediate level student. Evocative of a Middle Eastern marketplace, the modal melody of On the Streets of Cairo is challenging fun with accidentals, while Sneaking Around is great fun with suspenseful staccatos! Other pieces such as Monument Valley, Lazy Afternoon, and Bad Way to Start the Day will certainly resonate with your students as they say "Hey! That's my kind of music!"

    Artistic Varied Collection

All 4 books in this series by Kevin Olson are wonderful. They are of enough musical interest that they can serve as a basis for improvisation even after the student has advanced beyond the level of the book. Good for teaching and also as repertoire for a developing pianist to explore. The pieces move around the keyboard, and my students are delighted to sound like they are playing something hardand really good, but if they get what the structure is- whether repeated bass patterns or shifting 5-finger positions or sequences, it's not at all grueling work to get there. Satisfying for adult students as well.
