The second clarinet stays below the break and all parts are written within the ranges of an intermediate player. The chart provides opportunities to introduce sixteenth-note rhythms to the woodwinds and high brass. Percussion parts are written for less experienced players. Unison bass drums, easy and mostly melodic tenors, simple cymbal part, and snares with basic rhythm patterns accomplishable by second-year players. With reasonable doubling in the melody, players can project with confidence that someone is always playing with them. There are opportunities for more advanced players to stretch their technique and range via optional 8va passages in the lead trumpet and trombone parts, as well as a doubling of the iconic sax line in the horns.
