Solo harpsichord arrangement of the famous English ballett published in 1595. It is a lively piece with a 'momentum sustaining' yet complimentary left hand while the right hand comps for the familiar central vocal melody. Generally the piece is notable for its unusually long refrain, which takes up the majority of each verse (after the initial hook) to reach the final cadence.
This is an ideal arrangement for solo performances at concerts, historical settings and/or documentaries or just to gain personal experience in working with a keyboard piece that doesn't require a sustain pedal (something intrinsic to the harpsichord itself). It can nevertheless be translated to the piano and may be used as a Grade 4 ABRSM set performance or potentially as an advanced study for higher grades.
