This beautiful song was the best-selling song of the 1970s in the UK and was written at a time when Paul McCartney and his family were living in rural Scotland. The lyrics mention the landscape, the sunsets, the deer in the glen, and describe the peaceful idyllic life they shared there.
This arrangement is for SSA choir and piano. The harmony goes beyond the original song with an occasional modal moment, all parts take a turn with the melody, and there are passages which echo the bagpipes of the region.
There are some key changes but they are fairly well signalled by the piano.
The piano part is relatively simple - it supports the singers and adds gentle counter rhythms, and is not difficult to play.
I have categorised it as intermediate but it is at the easier end of the scale. I also have a version available for SSAA a cappella choir which is more of a challenge.
