Mrs Peachum’s furious entrance comes in a lively new arrangement. Based on the popular tune “O London is a fine town,” this setting captures the satirical bite and theatrical energy of John Gay’s original while remaining practical for modern performance.
The arrangement draws on early 18th‑century tonal language, balancing emerging major/minor harmony with modal colour and expressive cross-relations. Clear sectional rehearsal marks (A–D) and idiomatic vocal writing make it suitable for staged or concert performance.
