I metAnne Megan and the ladies of the Laurel Double Reed Quartet at the Double Reed conference at NYU in 2014.
Upon chatting with them, I discovered they had a wonderful enthusiasm for new music and had performed a number
of new pieces including my own Legend of the Dragonfly. They broached the idea of a commission and, that fall, I
wrote this work for them. It is a brief snapshot based on the three note progression in the opening measures. The rest
of the work (inABAform with an independent introduction) is spawned from that motif.
