Morceau de concert (Concert Piece) op. 94 by Camille Saint-Saens Concert Band - Digital Sheet Music

By Camille Saint-Saens

Morceau de concert (Concert Piece) op. 94 by Camille Saint-Saëns was originally composed for horn and piano in 1887. It was dedicated to the French horn player Henri Chaussier, who performed it several times as one of his showpieces. The later version for horn and orchestra, also by Saint-Saëns himself was published in 1905 and was his first explicit composition for the modern valve horn. The arrangement is kept in the original key of the composition for symphony orchestra and was first time performed by the Municipal Band of Zirl, Tyrol, Austria conducted by Albert Schwarzmann on 30 November 2019. His student Florin Markt from Zirl music school played the solo horn part. Performance Note: Euphonium and Tuba parts are not desired as an orchestra colour, but only as alternatives, if the low woodwinds and contrabass instruments cannot be scored as demanded.
