Moonlight Sonata, 1st Mvt. by Ludwig van Beethoven String Trio - Digital Sheet Music

By Ludwig van Beethoven

Ludwig van Beethoven’s Piano Sonata #14, Op. 27, No. 2 in C# minor, named “Sonata quasi una fantasia” by the composer, is much better known today as the “Moonlight Sonata”, a name given to it after the composer’s death. It was dedicated to Julie (“Giulietta”) Guicciardi, a piano student of Beethoven. This arrangement of the 1st Movement for String Trio is in the key of D minor, a half-step above C# minor. Even though this sonata was written toward the end the Classical era, it does not follow the standard sonata allegro form, and can be seen in some ways as part of the transition from the Classical to the Romantic era in music.
