It is happy-go-lucky in nature with a mock-noble (grandiose, if you will) middle part for general contrast. This will be a fun piece for the young bassoon student, as well as a novelty piece for any occasion. Everyone knows that the musical performer (soloist, especially) must be a master of mood swings, "acting" through the medium of his or her instrument. On the other hand, artistic temperaments with mood swings are generally scorned by society. We shall see!
