Increasingly background quartets are playing more and more arrangements of pop and contemporary songs. But it is important to still have a core collection of "classical pops". One of those pieces where people know the tune but not the name is the showpiece "Monti Czardas". Its flashy but straightforward. This is an arrangement with a novel and fun twist.... It was inspired by the film "Who framed Roger Rabbit" (what a great movie!) where Donald & Daffy Duck duel playing 2 pianos in the Liszt Hungarian Rhapsody. My arrangement of the Czardas does the same sharing the lead melody between the 2 (competing) violins. Fun to play, always guaranteed to get a round of applause but very practical this is a hit worthy of any quartet's library. Please leave a comment if you've enjoyed playing this.......
