To stay sharp especially in counterpoint and how lines work in music I dive in and study the masters of counterpoint. This piece, Monday's Fugue was the result of all that study. I call it Monday's Fugue since I composed it on a Monday. In a way, Monday's are like a fugue. A single task unfolds and develops along though out the day. So there can be many meanings to such a title. Counterpoint is good for all musicians. In a quartet for strings it is easy to just give the main melody content to violin 1 and that works. In a fugue the playing field shifts so that each part has greater importance. Everyone gets moments where they carry the ball and the spotlight is directly on their playing. In my mind that sounds like fun.
