This two-volume edition with the joint title Miriam's Song is dedicated to Jewish women composers of the 19th and 20th centuries. It contains the viola arrangements of works by Fanny Hensel1 nee Mendelssohn, Vally Weigl, Lena Stein-Schneider and the Allegro moderato of the original work written by Ruth Schonthal (Volume 1) as well as Helene Liebmann3 und Sarah Feigin (Volume 2). The title of the edition relates to the singing and dancing of the prophetess Miriam at the sea mentioned in the Torah. Significantly, the Berlin painter Wilhelm Hensel portrayed his wife, the composer Fanny Hensel nee Mendelssohn, as Miriam in the 19th century.
