Julius Fučik was born in Prague and is known as an Austrian-Bohemian king of marches. He studied composition with famous Antonìn Dvoràk. He passed his carreer mainly as military bandmaster in the Austrian-Hungarian army and composed beside world known marches around 400 pieces, containing overtures, waltzes dances and character pieces. He wrote Miramare in August 1912 during a holiday visit in Graz, Styria in Austria. At that time he was bandmaster of the infantry regiment No. 92 in Theresienstadt (today Terezìn) in Bohemia. The arrangement is kept in the original key of the composition for symphony orchestra and was commissioned and first time performed by Mozarteum Wind Philharmonic Salzburg conducted by Hansjoerg Angerer at their "New Year's Concert" on 6 January 2011 at the "Grosses Festspielhaus" (Large Festival Hall) in Salzburg, Austria.
