De solisten spelen het thema unisono of tweestemmig en ze wisselen elkaar daarbij af als een soort Duo Concertante waarbij de één het thema speelt dat dan door de ander omspeeld wordt. Het orkest heeft een overwegend begeleidende rol.

The theme from the Western Midnight Cowboy composed by John Barry is widely known in the version for mouth-organ. In this arrangement for symphonic windband and fanfare orchestra arranger Johan de Meij has chosen for a combined solo for alto-sax and trumpet with an orchestral background. The two soloists play the theme which is emellished by the other. The orchestra mainly finds its task in the accompaniment.

Dans l'arrangement qu'il en a réalisé pour harminie et fanfare, Johan de Meij a choisi de faire jouer ensemble un saxophone alto et une trompette, accompagnés par un orchestre. Les deux solistes jouent le thème soit à l'unisson soit à deux voix, l'exécutant alors de facon alterneé – comme dans une sorte de Duo Concertante l'un jouant le thème, et l'autre l'entourant d'ornementations.

In der Bearbeitung für Harmonie und Fanfare wählte der Arrangeur Johan de Meij eine Kombination von Altsaxophon- und Trompetensolo mit Orchesterbegeleitung. Die beiden Solisten spielen das Thema unisono oder zweistimmig und wechseln sich dabei ab eine Art Duo Concertante wobei einer das Thema spielt, das vom andern umspielt wird. Das Orchester erfühlt eine uberwiegend begeleitende Rolle.
