MEXICAN HAT DANCE - BRASS QUINTET by Traditional Brass Quintet - Digital Sheet Music

By Traditional

Arranged for 2 Trumpets, French Horn, Trombone and Tuba. There are Alternative Parts for Eb and Bb Horn as well as (all in Treble and Bass Clefs) Bb Trombone/Euphonium and Eb and Bb Bass.Great fun to play this traditional tune with a reasonably easy arrangement. The Mexican Hat Dance, known as ‘ Jarabe Tapatio’, originated as a courtship dance in the Nineteenth Century. The male dancer flirtatiously steps round the brim of his female partner’s hat! Although in the1920’s, Jesus Gonzalez Rubio composed the standard version of the melody, there remain a number of other Mexican Hat Dance themes and variations. They are both ‘traditional’ and integral to the very strong Mexican dance culture. None of these versions should be confused with ‘ La Raspa’ which is also a well known Mexican dance tune.
