Mexican Hat Dance (Jarabe Tapatio) was designated the national dance of Mexico in the 1920s. This catchy fast pace tune was written in the 1800s in the region of Guadalajara Mexico the birthplace of mariachi music. This tune is usually heard at Mexican restaurants and bars throughout the USA. I transcribed this song with emphasis on the mandolin; it is a good piece for developing picking speed. There is enough notation here for other instruments to play along or trade playing the melody by reading the treble clef notation or playing chords.
