This minuet is the third movement from Eine Kleine Nachtmusik – the Serenade No. 13 for Strings in G Major, K.525 – one of Mozart’s best known works. Scholars suspect that the piece was written under commission, although no records exist of who might have commissioned it, or when it was first performed. Eine Kleine Nachtmusik was not published during the composer’s lifetime – it was one item in a bundle of works that his widow Constanze sold to a publisher some time after Mozart's death.
