Published by William Hawley (A0.889692).The madrigal "Mentre Angoscia e Dolore" by William Hawley is the final piece in the original set of Seven Madrigals, commissioned and premiered by the vocal ensemble Chanticleer in 1986. The first six madrigals of the set were subsequently published by Hinshaw Music in separate octavos under their Italian titles, as arranged for SATB voices by the composer. "Mentre Angoscia e Dolore" is here presented in a new engraving of the original ATBarB voicing, prepared and revised by the composer from the original manuscript. The audio clip is of the full madrigal, from the live recording of Chanticleer's World Premiere of the Seven Madrigals in the Herbst Theatre, San Francisco, May 17, 1986. Duration: 3 1/2 minutes.
