Last Book of a Great Series
15 fairly lengthy pieces comprise this final book of the series; the student progresses to the red grade 4 book afterwards. It makes a great alternative for teachers tired of teachng the same old pieces year after year. The course features a mixture of arrangements and original classics plys a few Thompson originals.Classical numbers include Rachmaninoff's Prelude in C#m (arr), Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata (arr), and Rustles of Spring (arr). Swing Low Sweet Chariot serves as the melody for a rich transcription, and a Rondo from a Dussek Sonata provides an interesting example of the classical form. A transcription from Peer Gynt concludes the course.Teachers who want something different and fresh will find just that in this course. The course is best used by itself rather than trying to coordinate it with the red series; the two have totally different sequences of skills and concepts.
