Tammy Wynette and Billy Sherrill wrote “Stand By Your Man” in a single afternoon in 1968 — it became one of the best-selling country singles by a woman in history, and one of the most argued-over. This medley moves through all three with affectionate swagger, landing the final anthem with a sudden tempo drop and full-chorus gravitas.
