By Dixie Chicks, Lonestar, and Taylor Swift. By Aimee Mayo, Chris Lindsey, Marcus Hummon, Martie Seidel, Marv Green, and Taylor Swift. Arranged by David Maddux. This edition: pdf. Country. 15 pages. David Maddux #1415253. Published by David Maddux (A0.1855708).

The second chapter of the revue’s love trilogy opens with a song that began as a sister’s wish. Chicks fiddler Martie Seidel wrote “Cowboy, Take Me Away” with Marcus Hummon after watching her sister Emily — who had been dating a string of men Martie didn’t approve of — finally fall for the right one. The song’s title came from a Calgon bath products commercial slogan. It hit No. 1 in February 2000. Taylor Swift later wrote that hearing it at age 12 in her Pennsylvania family home is one of her most vivid musical memories.
“Love Story” came out of a different kind of family friction. Seventeen-year-old Swift introduced a boy to her parents and friends — every single one disapproved. She ran to her bedroom, sat on the floor with her guitar, and decided that Romeo and Juliet could have been the greatest love story ever told if Shakespeare had just changed the ending. She rewrote it, giving it a marriage proposal and a key change at the exact moment Romeo kneels. It became the first country song to top the Mainstream Top 40 chart in that chart’s history.
Lonestar’s “Amazed” (1999) closes the medley — a studio-floor miracle written by Aimee Mayo, Chris Lindsey, and Marv Green, and the first country single to sell over a million digital downloads. Quiet, reverent, and built for the hush of a full house listening close, it’s the perfect landing for a medley about love in all its forms. This TTBB arrangement features two soloists before the full chorus takes the finale home.
