This solemn mazurka, originally written for guitar, has been arranged for the intermediate pianist. It is in the original key of A minor and features octaves and 3 note chords and jumps in the left hand, as well as dotted eighth/sixteenth note rhythms and two voices in the right hand. Juan Alais (1844 - 1914) was an Argentine musician of British descent. He is known as the pioneer of concert guitar. With 2 contrasting sections, this piece makes an excellent choice for a student recital!
