This is one of those marvelous gospel hymns that has enough choral interest that it can also be sung as a choir number–either a cappella or accompanied by piano and/or organ. In this arrangement I edited the part-writing to bring it more up-to-date and added chord symbols in case anyone is interested.
If you are in an evangelical church and you program a night of singing the old gospel songs, you might be surprised at how many of the old-timers remember this song. But even if not, if you have a quartet or choir sing it through once, the congregation will gladly join in on stanzas two and three. And be sure to follow the expressions suggested in the refrain; congregations enjoy the drama of the contrasting dynamics!
