The final movement, “The Concluding Rites,” brings the work to a reverent and uplifting close, mirroring the final moments of the Catholic Mass—when prayer, blessing, and song unite the faithful before they are sent forth.

It opens with the Closing Prayer, led by the solo cello as the priest. The cello’s warm, solemn tone offers a final invocation, while the piano and bells gently accompany, evoking quiet reflection and gratitude. The string orchestra, as the congregation, listens in stillness, preparing for the joy to come.

From this prayer arises the first song, performed by the string orchestra, a tender hymn of thanksgiving and peace. Its melody embodies the community’s shared faith and readiness to go forth renewed.

Following this, the quartet of soloists—violin I (cantor), violin II (first lector), viola (second lector), and cello (priest)—join together in a rich musical dialogue. Their interwoven lines symbolize the unity of Word, worship, and mission. This quartet serves as the heart of the movement, expressing the beauty of a Church united in both sound and spirit.

The movement concludes with a final song, where all instruments—the soloists, string orchestra, piano, and bells—join in one radiant voice. This closing hymn carries a tone of joy and fulfillment, as if the entire assembly sings, “Go in peace, glorifying the Lord by your life.”

The final chords shimmer softly into silence, leaving the listener with a sense of peace, blessing, and divine presence that extends beyond the final note.
