Mas Que Nada by Sergio Mendes Concert Band - Digital Sheet Music

By Sergio Mendes

Made for an "inflated" jazz band, this arrangement has 4 "grooves": - The Intro, which I call a “headless” samba because it doesn’t have a bass drum or snare drum in the first beat. (A kind of unusual even for brazilian musicians but I like it!) - The standard samba-funk (measure 35, 75 and Coda) - The “broken” samba-funk, which starts with the melody (m. 51) and also on solos section (m. 91 - with the snare on the rim) and the tutti (m. 100 - snare returns to the skin). I called it that because of the "loose" snare drum hit in the second bar. - And finally the “samba-samba” (reduced for drum set), which is when the trombones pick up the melody (m. 59). I hope you have as much fun playing this arrangement as I had making it.
