The Virgin Mary's sense of awe and elation are revealed in this passionate setting of the Magnificat, taken from Luke 1. A mixture of major and minor modes tinged with blues harmonies highlights the mixture of emotions that surely must have inspired Mary's declaration of rejoicing and exaltation.
