This March and Trio, by Franz Schubert, arranged for brass quintet by Derrick Thomas Lewis, sounds deceptively simple in its rhythms, but is a challenge for all the players in that all parts use a large part of each intstrument's range, probably best suited to college/conservatory student groups or professional brass quintets, but can be an exciting challenge if you have a first rate trumpeter on the upper trumpet part and or an extremely skilled tubist at the high school level. Audiences will probably go home singing or humming the main theme for hours or days after hearing this piece that is unusually spirited and atypical of Schubert's musical moods.
Transposed and modified slightly (changed octave of melody) from the orignal in key signature only, to fit the ranges of the brass instruments.
