This piece got very famous mainly after appearing as principal theme in the 1959 Portuguese-language film Orfeu Negro by French director Marcel Camus, no wonder it became one of the first Bossa Nova compositions to gain popularity outside Brazil and has become a jazz standard in the U.S.
This arrangement for cello quartet was written in 2015 and reedited in 2025.
