Make It Mine by Jason Mraz Steel Drum Band - Digital Sheet Music

By Jason Mraz

Make It Mine is the first track off “We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things”. The whole album is full of energetic, pop/R&B horn hits and this tune is sure to be danceable. There is a soli section for leads and seconds at m. 52, but you could easily bring in the horn stylings from the original. If you do not have double tenors in your band, a double seconds player or two could be split off to play that part. The cello part is optional, but could also be played on a tenor bass. Feel free to add some rock tambourines, hand drums, and any other engine room accessories that enhance your performance! The drumset part should be considered a suggested road map. Encourage your drumset player to experiment with adding their own style to the groove and the fills. Especially important in this setting are the places where the groove stops. Listen to the original recording to get a better feel for those transitions.
