Magister Joseph Big Band - Sheet Music

This is a suite in three movements composed in homage of the great late Joe Henderson. The first movement is in 15/8 based on an African groove, the second movement is a Brazilian Maracatu in 3/4, and the third movement is a Salsa in 5/4 that goes back to the original African 15/8.It features the tenor saxophone, piano, trumpet and trombone as soloists. Arranged for the standard big band, optional parts with woodwind doubles are also available but not necessary. Instrumentation: 2 altos, 2 tenors, baritone sax, 4 trumpets, 4 trombones, guitar, piano, bass, drums. Optional doubles: flute, clarinet, bass clarinet, flugelhorn and soprano sax. The highest note on the trumpet is a concert D above the staff. Difficult.
