The pianist Alice Sara Ott brought to my attention that Edvard Grieg wrote ten volumes of solo piano pieces called "Lyric Pieces" between 1867 and 1901. These 66 solo works are lovely miniatures, many of which I have heard in dance classes when I was an adult ballet student from 1988 to 2022. NB: I finally quit when my wife and ballet teacher Kris retired from the Boston Ballet School in the summer 2022.
Inspired by Miss Ott's recording of these works on DG, I have decided to use the same twelve pieces from her CD for my Lyriske Stykker. NB: The titles in Norwegian look a bit more exotic than English.
