"Lullabye (goodnight, My Angel)" for wind band was commissioned by Pano Mata and the ATSSB Region 1 for the 2022 All-Region Symphonic Band Clinic and Concert. Pano had heard many beautiful arrangements of the work by Billy Joel, but wanted something for the wind band medium that he could use for his guest clinicianship with the Region 1 All-Region Symphonic Band. The result is this arrangement, which works well for strong high school bands and collegiate ensembles alike. The piece has many opportunities for lyrical artistic moments, but also works well in a straightforward manner for ensembles with little rehearsal time. It is designed to be somewhat flexible with instrumentation, to accommodate the naturally diverse instrumentations of bands of all sizes.
