Luim by Peter Benoit, arranged by Matt Johnston for two solo clarinets with accompaniment by Clarinet Choir. Luim was composed by Flemish composer Peter Benoit in 1869 for two clarinets and strings. It was later published for two clarinets and piano, edited by Edward Keurvels, a student of Benoit. The word "luim" can be translated into English as "joke" or "frivolity." Perhaps though, it is best interpreted as a more universally-known musical term, "caprice." Cross referencing the various existing scores, errata from the former editions were corrected along the way. Can be performed with an accompanying ensemble with as few as five members, however, feel free to double parts and use the optional instruments as you like.
