The original work was written by Catulo da Paixão Cearense (1863-1946), a composer, poet, playwright, and musician from Maranhão, born in São Luís, Brazil. Its best-known melody is a "classic sertanejo hymn" - "Luar do Sertão" (Luar of the Sertão), adapted in 1931 by Francisco Mignone (1897-1986) for coloratura and piano.
My version for string orchestra is based on this version for voice and piano (theme and variations) by Francisco Mignone, fully maintaining the voice part as conceived by Mignone.
It presents virtuosic technical challenges for the solo soprano and also for the orchestra as accompanist to the singing, given that "tempo rubato" is present throughout the work, especially in the coloraturas. A version is available for solo coloratura soprano with a cappella choir accompaniment, always using the voice and piano version as a reference.

A minha versão para orquestra de cordas baseia-se nesta versão de canto e piano (tema e variações) de Francisco Mignone, mantendo integralmente a parte do canto como foi concebida por Mignone.
