LOVE GROWS (where my Rosemary goes) - GUITAR QUARTET/large ensemble

Derek Hasted writes "I was walking round the local supermarket just before Christmas and “Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes)” started playing through the speakers in the ceiling. I thought “there’s a lot of catchy music in this piece”. And on the drive home I realised I had an ear-worm I couldn’t shake off.

So why have I arranged it? Because an ear-worm just before the interval in a concert is a wonderful way to keep the audience engaged and wanting more!

I’ve made an arrangement that’s suitable for a mixed ability ensemble between early intermediate and intermediate, so that it is accessible to as many guitarists as possible. It’s in the same key as the original (A major) but I decided not to do the key-change to Bb near the end - all the open strings vanished, barrés crept out of the woodwork and made the piece so much more awkward and slightly less clear-sounding. But keeping to one key means nothing else is lost, and the bright and confident sound will delight any audience.

Fingering on the scores is minimal because there are multiple positions that the top three parts can be played in, and you need to fingering that gives you the most confidence and security.

I hope you enjoy playing this piece!"

This is one of a large and growing range of accessible ensembles from experienced arranger Derek Hasted, and is supplied as full score and parts. Derek's website at www.derek-hasted.co.uk/smp lists all his arrangements by title and by "number of instruments", with links to soundclips and sample score.
