This lovely Advent hymn is based on a Finnish folk tune. It's haunting and melancholy melody lends itself to lush jazzy chords over a descending bass line. I start the tune in C minor and modulate to D minor and finally E minor. This makes for a wonderful prelude for the Advent season as it is not often heard.
