This anthem is based upon the antiphon text for the dedication of a church as found in the "Graduale Triplex". The first section, sonorous and homophonic, is followed by a polyphonic central section which mounts with an inexorable force to the words "inaestimable sacramentum"--profound sacrifice. Finally, the music from the first section returns as a reflection on "This place is built of God: it is without reproach.".
