Indeed, the hymn text (with roots in early-17th century Bohemia) takes on a whole new exuberance through the constant 3+3+2 rhythmic pattern. The words compare Jesus' victory over death with the conquests of David and Samson, each verse ending with an Alleluia and an invitation to praise the Lord.
