The outer movements of this Little Suite are based on traditional Swedish folkdances. The melancholy second movement sings of the girl Hilla and her love for Duke Hillebrand, unattainable for her, as the 18th century Love-ballad by G. Mohnicke tells us.

Cette petite suite est basée sur des airs traditionnels suédois. La deuxième partie est basée sur une ballade du 18ème siècle, de G. Mohnicke, qui raconte la triste histoire de l'impossible amour de la belle Hilla pour le Duc Hillebrand.

Die Ecksteine dieser kleinen Suite basieren auf traditionellen schwedischen Volkstänzen. Der melancholische zweite Teil besingt in der Liebesballade aus dem 18. Jahrhundert die traurige Geschichte des Mädchens Hilla für den für sie unerreichbaren Herzog Hillebrand.
