In those situations, take care to show that you understand who previously played those motives and what type of sound was used perform them. The suggested tempi are explained in detail but consider them more as a reference. Without too much attention to metronome markings, perform more by the nuance of the descriptions, for example, the relative differences between Adagio and Lento, and Vivo and Allegro, etc.
