Zusammen mit der Cellistin Anja Lechner erhielt er für seine CD „Tango mortale" in der 1980er Jahren den Preis der Deutschen Phono-Akademie. Der Tango hat ihn seither nicht mehr losgelassen und heute tritt er als Pianist des Klaviertrios „Tango à trois" auf.
