Not a Transcription, But Really Magnificent Volume
This feels very like Riddle's original piano set-up in preparation for the orchestration, and before Ronstadt's interpretation. Some of the recording's sweeter moments are missing, and you have to know the recording intimately to find the (frequently unmarked) solo sections.I kinda wanted to knock off a star for some of the missing musical elements, as well as the book not being spiral-bound, but it is just too great a compilation otherwise: it follows each album song-for-song, in the unapologetically nasty (in many cases) original keys, with most of the flourishes and ornaments that made those songs so achingly addictive to listen to.I wish Ronstadt's other specialty albums (Canciones de mi Padre, Frenesi, Hummin' to Myself) were set out like this.
