A deceptively simple, slow swing feel—so unhurried that it demands extraordinary control from the band. "Li’l Darlin’" as a study in restraint, elegance, and phrasing. The arrangement relies on soft dynamics, precise articulation, giving the tune a sense of cool sophistication. It has become a staple of the jazz repertoire, performed by countless ensembles ranging from professional big bands to high school groups learning the art of swing. This arrangement could (should) be played with 2 Flugelhorns. Written or improvised solo for the 1st Trumpet. First Trumpet to F5. Intermediate level.
