But if 'Yes' is the answer, it would be better, but maybe not.
No one ever says they don’t need hope, because sometimes it is this strange and abstract thing that keeps a person alive. If someone has never once experienced any single moment of hope, then they will live their whole life in a world of shadows. Yet I believe they will not give up; they will search for a way, any way that possible, just to find that faint glimmer of light.
At least take a try to know whether something is real or merely a cruel joke. At the very brink of despair, a tiny spark descends from above, whispering, “I am here.” Humans, at times, are like insects drawn to light — when the glow falls, how could they resist moving closer to it? And finally, that hope does arrive. To embrace it fully, to feel its sudden warmth, to greedily savor it with every fiber of one’s being.
But have you enjoyed it enough? Now I shall destroy it completely! How foolish you are, thinking that effort alone could bring reward. The greater is the hope, the deeper are the disappointment! I gave you such dazzling hope, only to cast you back into your cold, shadowed world, condemned to despair forever. The light never existed!
Compared to false hope, I would rather live in despair for a lifetime. If the truth is that light never existed at all, then that is better than being forced to feel it only to realize its absence.
