Also known as the "Negro National Anthem," this arrangement is for a low brass ensemble consisting of 2-3 Trombones, 2 Euphoniums and a Tuba. The piece begins with a short mysterious entrance and transitions to a warm inviting melody. As the melody moves around each sub-section of the ensemble, the background stays relaxed and accents the melody from time to time. During the "Sing-A-Song" portion of the piece, the ensemble captivates the audience with a dark and booming, but proud sound leading to a fermata. Finally, the piece has a strong bravado of the melody then brings the piece to a soft and warm close of a F Major chord.
