The song was composed by Jacques Revaux, whose synthesizer malfunctioned during a writing session, accidentally producing a bagpipe-like sound that became the starting point of the piece.
The lyrics, co-written by Michel Sardou and Pierre Delanoë, evoke an Irish wedding set against wild landscapes and the historical conflict between Ireland and England, drawing on the geographical and cultural references of the region.
This arrangement for Marching Band makes only minor change to the music, retaining the original structure and key, and adding a closing coda.
