Jüngstes Ergebnis der langen Beschäftigung des Komponisten mit Bertolt Brechts Werken ist die Vertonung der berühmten "Legende von der Entstehung des Buches Taoteking", deren bekannteste Aussage ist, "dass das Wasser in Bewegung mit der Zeit den mächtigen Stein besiegt". Mit der Vortragsbezeichnung "Im Ton eines Bänkelliedes" ist zwar ein Hinweis auf eine Anlehnung auch an den "Songstil" z. B. Kurt Weills gegeben; die ganz eigene Handschrift des Komponisten bleibt jedoch unverkennbar.
